Hi, I’m Mike Cohen

Founder of SecondSyt

I started SecondSyt because I believe technology should work for people — not the other way around. After more than 30 years working across the technology industry, from the vast campuses of Motorola in the 1990s to being employee number seven at a small British startup, one thing has stayed constant: the best technology is the kind that quietly improves your life without you having to think about it.

Throughout my career, whether I was working with tens of thousands of colleagues or a handful of people around a single table, my focus was always the same — putting the right technology in front of the right people, in a way that made them more effective, more confident, and more in control. That philosophy is exactly what SecondSyt is built on.

Bringing it home — to the Cotswolds

My wife Allison and I have lived in the Cotswolds since 2012, and this community means a great deal to us both. Allison is a highly regarded designer whose work — creating identities and packaging for a string of successful Cotswold businesses — has made her a familiar and trusted name locally. I wanted to bring the same spirit to what I do: genuine expertise, delivered personally, for people who live near us.

SecondSyt was born from conversations with neighbours, friends, and local residents who wanted to feel safer at home, reduce their energy bills, or simply get more from the technology they already owned — but didn’t know where to start, or who to trust. I’m here to bridge that gap.

What I believe

Technology should serve you

No corporation should rule your home. The right system is the one that fits your life — not the one that’s easiest to sell.

Honesty above all

I’ll only recommend something if I genuinely believe it’s right for you. If the answer is “you don’t need that”, I’ll say so.

Local and personal

Every home is different. I visit in person, I explain things clearly, and I’m always on the end of the phone if something needs attention.
